TRUE STORIES OF NEW MUSLIMS
- Experiences of a Recently
Converted Hindu Woman
Finally, I’d like to say that I had accepted Islam not blindly, or under any
compulsion. In the Qur’an itself there is a verse which says “There is no
compulsion in religion.” I accepted Islam with conviction. I have seen,
been there, done that, and seen both sides of the story. I know and have
experienced what the other side is like, and I know that I have done the
right thing
- An Open Letter to my family and
Muslim Brethren
I am writing this for all my Muslim brothers and sisters
who have converted (or reverted) to Islam, and have had the courage,
against all odds, to stand firm on their beliefs -- no matter how great
the cost. I want to convey the sorrow I share with many of my fellow
brothers and sisters in Islam
- Britain's High Class Are Flocking to
Islam
After all this I see not the reasons of my shyness, my regret, my inferiority
complex that is stopping me from even performing my Jumu’ah Salaat amidst my
colleagues at work only because of the fear of what will people say and that my
business may lose important profits, yet the kingdom headquarters, Buckingham
Palace, has such facilities…
- Why Did I
Embrace Islam - Dr. Abdul-Karim Herbert
My only convincing answer to this question is that
Almighty Allah in His Glory helped me in admitting the Greatest Truth
and testifying to the biggest reality to the world. I, however, know
fully well that human nature and its disposition refuse to be convinced
of certain facts and realities without satisfactory proofs and cogent
arguments.
- Views of Reverts About Islam
The simplicity of Islam, the powerful appeal and compelling
atmosphere of its mosques, the earnestness of its faithful adherents, the
confidence inspiring realization of the millions throughout the world who answer
the five daily calls to prayer - these factors attracted me from the first.
- I Embraced Islam - Zain
Muhammad
I was born into this world an American Christian, a Southern Baptist in the deep heart of the mythical south: Mississippi. Always
a sensitive child, given to prayer and Bible reading, I believed in what
my elders taught me: that God was One and God was Three, that Christ
Jesus was the Son of God yet also WAS God, that the Bible was the
infallible word of God despite being written and compiled many years
after the "crucifixion of Christ/God."
- I reverted to Islam - Madame Fatima Mik Davidson
Madame Fatima Mik Davidson is the Minister of State for Social Development and Local Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. In an interview given by her to the renowned Arabic Magazine Men-bar-al-Islam of Cairo, Madame Fatima Mik Davidson (formerly Mrs. Model Donafamik Davidson) talked about the beginning of her encounter with Islam and how she ultimately turned Muslim.
- Ex-Gulf War Veteran - ABDULLLAH
During the Gulf War between the United Forces and Iraq he was posted to Saudi Arabia. Abdullah was shopping in a Saudi market. He picked up an item from the shop and agreed to pay its price to the shopkeeper. However when he was about to pay for the article the call for prayer was heard from a nearby mosque. The shopkeeper said, "That's it," and refused to do any business after the call for prayer. He then closed his shop and hurriedly went to the mosque
- American Muslims - Jim
He used to go to a Christian church with his parents. My parents used to pay ten percent of their income to this church in order to attend its services. My parents did not like the religious practices of this church. Hence they switched to another church. There they had to pay only eight percent of their income to attend the services. This was acceptable to my parents since nearly all churches operate like this. I however did not like the practice of buying our seats through compulsory contribution. I stopped going to any church since I disapproved the ideas and practice of these churches.

Pastor's Wife Reverts to Islam
Her name is Fatima Edoh, a 47-year-old Deeper Life elder. She lives in Karon-Majigi, a satellite town located along Airport Road in Abuja. On April 12, 2001, Fatima performed ablution and recited Lailaha Illa Llaahu, Muhammadu Rasullullah (Salallahu Alaihi wa salam). She accepted the Islamic faith and converted to Islam.
- American Muslims - Dr Najat
Dr. Najat was born, raised and educated in India. He came for his Post-Graduate education to Windsor, Canada. I dare not to write his original name since it is very long and hard to pronounce. All it tells me is that he belonged to a very conservative Hindu family who chose such a typical Hindu name for him. He received very sound religious education, which he practiced as much as he could during his stay in India.
- America Muslims - SUZAN
During the Islamic marriage I explained them that it was mandatory for the husband to give Mahr to his wife. It can be in coin or kind. I also reminded them that Mahr is the personal property of the wife and she can use it the way she chooses. Husband has no say in it throughout his life. Abdul Qadar eagerly agreed to pay Mahr. Suzan was amazed to see the respect accorded to a woman in Islam and the way her rights were preserved. It definitely strengthened her Islamic Faith. This situation took place in the State of Maryland.
- Yes I Converted - SAIFUDDIN
I was born in a German Christian family during the most ferocious part of World War II, in Berlin, in 1943. My family moved first to Spain, during the same year, and later in 1948, to Argentina. There I stayed for 15 years. I attended my grade and high school at the Roman Catholic "La Salle" school, in Cordoba, Argentine. As was to be expected, I became very soon a fervent Catholic. I was lectured over an hour daily on Catholic religion and I often attended religious services. At twelve, my dream was to become a Roman Catholic priest. I was completely committed to the Christian faith.
- American Muslims - REHANA
Rehana was now a different woman. She covered her head like a model Muslim woman. She wondered why many born Muslim women do not adhere to Islamic dress code. She wanted her children to be educated in full time Islamic school. She was continuously educating herself. She demanded tapes from her husband of Fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence) lessons offered by Dr. Muzammil Siddiqui in the mosque to enhance her educational activities and Islamic growth.
- Imaam Siraaj Wahhaaj
It was the time of the campaigning for the American Presidential election. It was in full swing. George Bush, Bill Clinton and Ross Perro were throwing as much dirt at each other as much as law permitted... Siraj started his speech like this. “I was reading the Qur’aan last night. I was surprised to read about George Bush in it. Yes, you heard me right. I read about George Bush in the Quraan last night. In fact, I also read about Bill Clinton. Both were mentioned in the Quraan in the same place. Ross Perro was mentioned in the Quraan as well. I did not have to read lot of the Quraan since all three
were mentioned in the beginning of the Quraan... I can even give you the exact verse.” Then he recited the verse, ‘Summun Bukmun ‘Umyun fahum laa yarji’oon’ (They are deaf, dumb and blind. They will not return to truth)

James Ali Abiba
He went on to college and graduated with Islamic history major. He was a well known leader of Muslim Student Association at his University campus, College Park, Maryland. He married a Muslim girl from India. Both of them started teaching at Universal Islamic School in Chicago. Last time I met him was at an ISNA convention. He was in a special dress with a big green turban on his head. I asked him, "Now what is this?" He said, "Mr. Ahmad please don't talk about it." Obviously he had joined a Zikar group.

Kathy
I started reading it. It happened to be an English translation of the Quran. It was fascinating. The more I read the more curious I became about Islam. It was totally different from what my professors taught me in the University. I said to myself, "Were my professors lying?" Anyhow the true Islamic values offered by the Quran satisfied my mind and conscience. I said to myself, "If this is Islam, it is wonderful I want to become a Muslim."
