The Saturday Ulama programme held at the Madrasah
under the auspices and Sadarat of Sayed Mufti Abdul Jaleel Saehb commenced
this week. This is a weekly programme aimed to keep the Ulama abreast with
contemporary issues and discussing the Shar’ie aspects of such issues.
TIME: 9:30am - 12:00pm
Alhamdulillah, approximately 40 outside Ulama
attended the programme.

A short summary of this weeks programme follows:
DISCOURSE 1: by Mufti Ebrahim Desai
Mufti Saheb discussed the concept of Heela
(stratagems) in Shariah. Ulama experience difficulty in many Masaa’il like
zakaat, nikah, talaaq etc. Mufti Saheb illustrated 10 such examples. For
reference purposes, copies of the presentation are available from the
Darul Ifta. You may also refer to the recording. This topic will continue
this week and the issue of heela will be examined from Quraan and Hadith.
DISCOURSE 2: MUFTI ABDUL JAEEL SAHEB
Mufti Saheb discussed the importance of Qadha in
Shariah and the need for Qadha in South Africa. Nabi (Salalaahu Alayhi
Wasallam) himself issued 200 decrees which has been compiled in one book.
Mufti Saheb discussed the history of Qadha in India and the importance
that was given to this faculty by our all Akaabir. This was after certain
Ulama advised Muslim women to become Murtad (renege on Islam) in order to
cancel the Nikah from their abusive husbands. Approximately 300 women
became Murtads.
DICOURSE 3: ADVOCATE SALIM KHAN
Advocate Salim Khan has kindly agreed to conduct
discourses on the SA legal system for the benefit of the Ulama. This weeks
discussion was about the court interdict preventing the media from
printing the cartoons of Nabi (Salallaahu Alayhi Wasallam). Advocate Salim
will continue his discourses for the next few weeks from 11:00 am to 12:00
pm.
